From making replica props to collaborating with local businesses to create disposable PPE for the local hospital, it’s all part of the rapid innovation taking place in the Greater Hamilton region!

Jason Tully from Hamilton-based Wasted Props is used to creating movie and gaming replicas like weaponry and armour, but has been creating armour of a different sort alongside fellow community members in the South West of Victoria.

The video below shows some of the innovation happening right now to manufacture disposable surgical gowns and protective eye wear for the Western District Health Service.

Jason is collaborating with Matt Gebert from Gebcomm, Josh Membrey from Nigretta of Hamilton / WDEA and Jamie Compton from Portland Waterjet Cutting to cut out these much-needed supplies from polyethlene and polyester sheeting. Talented crafters from the Hamilton region are also sewing up the gown seams, headed up by local stitcher, Jill Whiting.

This sense of collaboration and community spirit is exactly why we love our Greater Hamilton community!
